The Donovan Tribute Concert Great Songs of the Sky
premiered at the Fair Oaks Theatre Festival on August 26,
2005, for a six week run. Created and arranged by music
director Lucy D'Mot, the concert received enthusiastic
audiences and reviews.
The cast of 12-16 vocalists and a five piece band, stayed
together during 2006 to perform throughout Northern
California, culminating with a ten day run at the Edinburgh
Fringe Festival in August 2006, to critical acclaim.
Great Songs of the Sky is preparing some new (and old)
songs for a series of concerts in summer of 2008, to benefit
local charity organizations.
Donovan Leitch is best known for his mega-hits of the
1960s including the songs Mellow Yellow, Sunshine
Superman, Hurdy Gurdy Man & Catch the Wind.
Donovan's musical library consists of over 600 songs,
and while the Tribute Concert touches on a few of
Donovan's greatest hits, it primarily focuses on new
arrangements of his lesser known work.
